Screening
So what exactly is screening you ask?
It is a process where raw water is passed through a bandscreen chamber. A bandscreen chamber is a chamber specialised for sorting out particles with high efficiency. All particles or debris greater than 4mm will be suspended just by passing through the chamber once, there is no need for a repeat. In a nutshell, this is a mini filtration chamber but smaller particles will still remain in the water. The process is still relatively vague so we have a video for you !

Filtration
Filtration is a technique used either to remove solid impurities from an organic solution or to isolate an organic solid. The two types of filtration commonly used in organic chemistry laboratories are gravity filtration and vacuum or suction filtration.
Just some extra info ( gravity filtration)
Gravity filtration is basically filtering by using gravity. It is just simply filtration but it is actually lesser used than vacuum filtration! An example of gravity filtration would be where you remove solid impurities from an organic liquid.
Vacuum filtration
Vacuum filtration is used primarily to collect a desired solid, for instance, the collection of crystals in a recrystallization procedure. This method is only used for filtering solids.
